Saw Minority Report. NOT GOOD!

My husband and I must have spent 3 hours talking about all the things that are wrong with the film. The plot has more holes than swiss cheese. And we learned that in the future, there is bad lighting everywhere. How do you make Tom Cruise look bad, for god's sake?

Read the TV Guide review. Don't go.

EPA says toxic sludge is good for fish
This is a joke, right? Please, let this be a joke.

"Now, think about this....when Payne Stewart's private jet lost contact with air traffic control in 1999, it took four minutes to have a military jet next to the plane to determine what the problem was. So why, in the 2 hours the hijacked planes of 9/11 were in the air did we not have a single engagement between the planes and our military jets?"

I hate it when I agree with Pat Buchanan!

If you wait long enough, someone will write it for you.

As my regular reader(s) know, I have been saying for sometime that I want to write about why I think W knew in advance, but did nothing. Well, Commondreams.org did my work for me. This is their version:

"Q. If they knew in advance that the, or at least an, attack was coming, why did the Bush Administration do nothing to prepare the country in advance...?

"A. The explanation preferred by the government is to admit, eight months late, to absolute and horrendous incompetence, up and down the line... But let's try an alternate explanation. Think about it for a moment. If their key goal was to mobilize the country behind the Bush Administration, get their political/business agenda through, have a reason to move unilaterally around the globe, and defang the Democrats and other critics at home -- what better way to do all that than to have Bush be the take-charge leader after a diabolic "sneak attack"? "

I will ad to that "fix up the economy," which was clearly a goal of the Bush Administration early on. When Bush took office, he claimed, in fact, that he would have it fixed up by the end of last year. I can't think of a better way to do it that quickly than a nice big war of some sort.
